NYC Town Hall: Critical Conversations for the Future of Yoga

AYC Team

September 17, 2025

On Saturday September 27th Yogis from around the globe will gather online to take part in the first ever American Yoga Council, Town Hall and Council Mtg. (join us live in NYC or online)

Re-Aligning a Broken Yoga Industry

Many in the industry agree that the system and standards for yoga teacher training as well as the financial incentives involved have been problematic for a long time. How do yoga teachers make a living in the attention economy? How does the public differentiate between teachers of different styles and experience levels? What's the purpose of a trade organization or standards if there is no way to hold schools accountable to what they teach? What does it feel like the yoga industry isn't growing anymore? How do we not lose the heart of yoga in a divided America?

Event Schedule

2pm-4pm: Critical Conversations Panel

In this session we will hear from some of the American Yoga Council Advisory Members about specific issues and ideas relating to yoga in the modern era. There will be opportunities to ask questions and to stimulate ideas for the upcoming Town-Hall.

AYC Code of Conduct (beta)

It’s easy for a Code of Conduct to be so generic it is of little use, and for there to be next-to-no consequences for violating it. So we’re taking a different approach, with a few specific aims in mind.
